About this course

Geography is a discipline of extraordinary scope, examining the physical processes that shape the Earth's surface alongside the human systems that organise its use, connecting natural science and social science in ways few other subjects can match. Physical geography investigates landscapes, climate, water, soils, and ecosystems, while human geography explores urbanisation, migration, globalisation, inequality, and the spatial dimensions of economic and political life. The connecting thread is attention to place and spatial pattern, and to the ways that physical and human processes interact to produce the environments we live in. Geography graduates develop both quantitative and qualitative research skills, and the ability to work with spatial data using GIS and remote sensing tools that have become indispensable in environmental and planning professions.
