About this course

Adult nursing is the largest branch of the nursing profession, and registered adult nurses are the backbone of healthcare delivery across the NHS and independent sector. The role extends across an extraordinary range of settings: acute hospital wards, critical care, surgical units, outpatient departments, mental health liaison, community nursing, GP practices, and long-term condition management. Adult nurses work with patients from late adolescence through to old age, managing acute illness, supporting recovery, and providing sustained care to those living with chronic and complex conditions. It is a profession that combines clinical precision with the communication, empathy and resilience needed to build effective therapeutic relationships.
