Quantity surveying is the profession concerned with the commercial and financial management of construction projects. Quantity surveyors advise clients and contractors on the costs of building and civil engineering works, prepare and analyse tenders, manage contracts, value work done and settle final accounts, and play a central role in ensuring that construction projects are delivered to the highest standard within agreed budgets and contractual terms. It is a profession that combines technical knowledge of construction with strong commercial, legal and interpersonal skills.
