Actuarial science is the application of mathematical and statistical methods to the assessment of risk and uncertainty in insurance, pensions, investment, and related financial fields. Actuaries use sophisticated quantitative techniques to model uncertain future events, to price insurance products, to value long-term pension liabilities, and to advise organisations on the financial implications of risk. The profession is among the most mathematically demanding in the business world, and it is also one of the most consistently well-rewarded and highly regarded.
