Astrophysics is the branch of physics concerned with the nature, origin and evolution of the universe and everything in it: stars, planets, galaxies, black holes, dark matter and the fabric of spacetime itself. It is a discipline that combines the deepest theoretical physics with extraordinary observational challenges, demanding mathematical rigour, computational skill and the physical intuition to reason about phenomena far beyond everyday experience. At the University of St Andrews this five-year full-time integrated masters programme offers a guided exploration of the science of the universe, from our solar system to galaxy clusters, from extrasolar planets to the most extreme objects in the cosmos.
