About this course

Biology with biotechnology combines the broad scientific study of living systems with a focused engagement with the applied technologies that use those systems to create products and processes of value to medicine, agriculture, and industry. Biology provides the foundational knowledge of cells, genetics, evolution, physiology, and ecology that underpins all life science. Biotechnology extends that knowledge into practice, examining how living organisms and biological processes are harnessed to produce pharmaceuticals, diagnostic tools, biofuels, and modified organisms with enhanced characteristics. At Bangor University, which sits in North Wales with access to exceptional natural environments alongside well-equipped laboratory facilities, this three-year full-time programme develops your understanding of biological science alongside the techniques and applications of modern biotechnolog
