Physics is the foundational science: it seeks to understand the most basic laws governing matter, energy, space, and time, and in doing so provides the bedrock on which all other natural sciences rest. At the University of Southampton, the BSc Physics with Foundation Year runs over four years of full-time study, with the foundation year providing the mathematical and scientific preparation students need before entering the full physics degree.
