It spans an enormous range of applications, from power systems and telecommunications to semiconductor design, signal processing, control systems and the electronic intelligence embedded in almost every device we use. Engineers in this field are responsible for the infrastructure that delivers electricity across national grids, the circuits that process information in computers and smartphones, and the control systems that operate everything from industrial plant to autonomous vehicles.
