About this course

Mathematical, statistical and actuarial sciences together form one of the most professionally focused and analytically demanding degree combinations available. Mathematics provides the formal foundations for abstract reasoning and quantitative modelling. Statistics develops the tools for collecting, analysing and interpreting data and for drawing valid inferences under uncertainty. Actuarial science applies both to the specific problems of risk, insurance, pensions and long-term financial planning, using mathematical and statistical methods to quantify uncertainty and price it appropriately.
