About this course

Children's nursing is a specialism that requires clinical skill of the highest order alongside particular personal qualities: the ability to communicate with children at different developmental stages, to support anxious parents and families, and to provide care that is genuinely child-centred in environments that range from neonatal intensive care units to paediatric wards, community health teams, and outpatient clinics. Children's nurses are advocates for some of the most vulnerable patients in the health system. At the University of Huddersfield, this three-year, full-time programme leading to registration as a children's nurse uses a blended learning approach, combining online and campus-based teaching with substantial clinical placement experience. The blended format allows you to engage with academic content flexibly while still spending the time required in clinical environments
