About this course

Sociology is the systematic study of how human societies are organised, how social structures and institutions shape individual lives and collective behaviour, and how change happens at the level of communities, nations and global systems. It examines class, inequality, race, gender, family, education, religion, crime, media, health and a wide range of other dimensions of social life, using a combination of theoretical frameworks and empirical research methods to build an evidence-based picture of the world we inhabit. Sociology does not just describe society; it equips you to analyse it critically and to think about how it might be different.
