Veterinary physiotherapy is a specialist clinical discipline concerned with the assessment and treatment of musculoskeletal and neurological conditions in animals, using techniques drawn from human physiotherapy and adapted for animal anatomy, movement, and behaviour. It is a relatively young profession but one with growing recognition, as the evidence base for manual therapy, exercise rehabilitation, and electrotherapy in animals has expanded considerably. Horses and dogs are the animals most commonly treated, and specialist facilities for both are central to developing clinical competence.
