About this course

Early childhood studies is the academic study of children from birth to around eight years, concerned with how they develop physically, cognitively, emotionally, and socially, and with the environments, relationships, and services that support their wellbeing. It draws on developmental psychology, education theory, sociology, health, and law to provide a multidisciplinary understanding of early childhood, recognising that the experiences of the earliest years have profound and lasting effects on children's future outcomes.
