Mathematics and computer science is a natural pairing because the two disciplines are deeply intertwined. Computer science draws heavily on discrete mathematics, logic, algorithms, and probability theory, while mathematics increasingly uses computation as a tool for exploration and proof. Studying both together develops a distinctive intellectual profile: the rigorous analytical thinking of mathematics combined with the algorithmic and systems-oriented thinking of computer science, each enriching and extending the other. In the mathematics strand, you will develop expertise in calculus, algebra, analysis, probability, and statistics, working with the precision and rigour that mathematical training demands.
