Applied zoology is the study of animal biology with a practical and professional orientation, connecting the science of animal behaviour, physiology, ecology, and diversity to the real-world contexts in which that knowledge is applied: conservation, wildlife management, animal welfare, agriculture, and veterinary support. It is a field that asks both fundamental scientific questions about how animals work and behave, and practical ones about how human activity can be managed to protect and improve the lives of animals both in the wild and in captivity.
