About this course

Arts and humanities degrees develop the capabilities that sit at the heart of the human sciences: the ability to engage critically with texts and cultural objects, to construct well-reasoned arguments, to understand the historical and social contexts in which ideas and works have been produced, and to communicate with clarity and precision. The breadth of the arts and humanities encompasses literature, languages, history, philosophy, religion, music, art history, and more, and students who enter through a foundation year pathway have the advantage of exploring this breadth before committing to a specific degree subject. At the University of Leeds, this four-year programme is designed to support progression onto a wide range of degree courses within the Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Cultures, or into Geography. The foundation year provides a supported transition into degree-level study
