Chemical engineering with environmental engineering is a degree that addresses one of the most urgent challenges of the twenty-first century: how to redesign the industrial and energy systems on which modern societies depend so that they can operate within environmental limits. Chemical engineering provides the core technical toolkit, including thermodynamics, heat and mass transfer, reactor design and process optimisation; the environmental specialisation focuses that toolkit on reducing pollution, managing waste streams, designing cleaner processes and developing the sustainable technologies that must replace those causing environmental harm.
