About this course

Economics is the study of how individuals, organisations and societies make choices under conditions of scarcity, and how those choices ripple through markets, institutions and everyday life. It is a discipline that ranges from the intimate, such as why two people might trade with one another, to the global, such as how monetary policy affects employment across an entire economy. Far from being a purely abstract subject, economics engages directly with some of the most pressing questions in public and commercial life.
