History at Sussex is a degree that takes the full breadth of the human past seriously, from the history of emotions and environmental history to the histories of rave, fashion, and youth culture. You will discover how history was made and shaped not only by leaders and politicians but by ordinary men and women across Britain, Europe, the Americas, the Middle East, North Africa, Asia, and the Caribbean. The degree is designed to let you follow the histories that matter most to you, whether those are local or global, ancient or contemporary, social or political, and to develop the analytical, research, and argumentative skills that allow you to understand and communicate those histories with rigour.
