Law governs almost every aspect of organised social life: the contracts that underpin commercial activity, the rights that protect individuals from the state, the rules that determine how property is owned and transferred, the systems through which crimes are defined and prosecuted, and the frameworks that regulate international relations. Studying law develops a particular intellectual discipline: the capacity to read complex material with precision, to construct arguments from legal principles and their application to specific facts, and to communicate clearly and economically in writing and speech. At the University of Winchester, this three-year full-time LLB Law degree is built with students' futures in mind, as the current description reflects. The emphasis is not only on learning legal doctrine but on developing the ability to use law, question it, and apply it in real situations
