About this course

Medicine is one of the most demanding and consequential of all degree programmes, preparing students to become doctors who can diagnose illness, prescribe treatment, and take responsibility for the health and wellbeing of patients across a lifetime of clinical practice. It combines the natural sciences of anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, pharmacology, and pathology with the clinical skills of history-taking, examination, and reasoning, and with the communication, ethical, and humanistic capacities that compassionate patient care demands. At the University of Oxford, medicine is a six-year, full-time programme studied within one of the world's greatest universities and clinical environments.
