About this course

Textile design is one of the oldest and most technically diverse creative disciplines, concerned with how materials are manipulated through weave, knit, print, and embroidery to create surfaces, fabrics, and objects that are simultaneously functional and expressive. Textiles are central to fashion, interior design, product development, automotive interiors, film and television production, and an expanding field of material innovation, including smart textiles and sustainable material alternatives. Studying textile design develops a combination of technical craft skills, aesthetic judgement, and creative thinking that is applicable across this wide range of contexts.
