Electrical and electronic engineering is the discipline that underpins the infrastructure of modern life: the power systems that generate and distribute electricity, the communication networks that connect people and devices, the electronic components inside every piece of computing and sensing hardware, and the control systems that make machines operate reliably and safely. The discipline draws on mathematics and physics to develop the theoretical understanding of electrical and electronic phenomena, and it applies that understanding to the design and improvement of real systems across an enormous range of applications.
