Product design and manufacture is a discipline that takes ideas from initial concept through to finished, producible objects, combining creative and analytical thinking in the development of products that are functional, attractive, manufacturable, and appropriate for their users and contexts. It sits at the intersection of design and engineering, requiring both the visual and conceptual skills of a designer and the materials and manufacturing knowledge of an engineer.
