Applied mathematics and physics is a combination that offers enhanced flexibility, increased choice, and the opportunity to pursue some of the most interesting and relevant questions pervasive in society, technology, and the universe. Mathematics and physics are deeply intertwined: the laws of physics are expressed in mathematical language, and some of the most important developments in mathematics have been driven by the demands of physical theory.
