Illustration is a discipline that sits at the intersection of fine art, graphic design, and narrative, concerned with making images that communicate, interpret, or give visual form to ideas, stories, and experiences. The illustrator works across an exceptionally wide range of contexts: books for children and adults, editorial and journalism, advertising and branding, animation, character design, comics and graphic novels, scientific and technical illustration, and the growing world of digital and screen-based media. What unites these diverse applications is the fundamental challenge of visual storytelling and the development of a distinctive personal visual language.
