About this course

Midwifery is a profession at the centre of one of the most profound experiences in human life. Midwives provide care to women and their families throughout pregnancy, labour, birth, and the postnatal period, combining clinical skill with emotional intelligence and a deep commitment to women's autonomy and wellbeing. The role requires excellent clinical judgement, the ability to work as part of an interdisciplinary team, and the compassion to support families through both joyful and difficult moments. At Queen's University Belfast, this three-year, full-time programme is designed to equip you with the knowledge, skills, and professional attributes needed to practise as a registered midwife under the Nursing and Midwifery Council. You will develop a thorough understanding of normal physiology in pregnancy and birth alongside the skills to identify and respond to complications and to work
