About this course

Mental health nursing is a profession that calls for exceptional interpersonal skill, clinical knowledge, and a commitment to working with people at some of the most difficult moments of their lives. Mental health nurses support individuals experiencing conditions including depression, anxiety, psychosis, personality disorders, eating disorders, addiction, and many other presentations, across a wide range of settings from acute inpatient wards and crisis teams to community mental health services and primary care. Recovery-focused, person-centred care is at the heart of contemporary mental health nursing practice. At Cardiff University you will study this three-year full-time programme, which is validated by the Nursing and Midwifery Council and leads to registration as a mental health nurse on successful completion.
