About this course

Mental health nursing is a profession that works with some of the most complex and challenging experiences in human life. Mental health nurses support people living with a wide range of conditions, from anxiety and depression to psychosis, bipolar disorder, eating disorders, personality disorders and substance misuse problems. The role demands clinical knowledge and assessment skills, but equally requires genuine therapeutic presence, strong communication abilities and the capacity to build trusting relationships with people who are often in great distress. It is a vocation that asks much of its practitioners and offers significant professional reward.
