About this course

Biochemistry investigates life at the molecular level, examining the structures and functions of the biological molecules that constitute living organisms, and the chemical processes that allow those organisms to grow, respond to their environments, and reproduce. It occupies the junction between biology and chemistry, using the methods and concepts of both to understand phenomena ranging from enzyme catalysis and DNA replication to signal transduction and cell death. As our ability to investigate and manipulate these processes has expanded, biochemistry has become one of the most consequential and rapidly developing of the life sciences. At the University of Warwick, this four-year full-time Biochemistry degree with a placement year takes you deeply into the molecular world of life, examining the structure and function of proteins and nucleic acids, how gene expression is controlled, h
