Classical music is one of the longest-established and most intellectually demanding of all performing arts traditions, encompassing centuries of composition, performance practice and music theory that has shaped not just Western art music but the way the world thinks about musical form, expression and craft. Training as a classical musician requires technical mastery of an instrument or voice, deep engagement with musical analysis and history, and the ability to perform with both precision and expressiveness in a range of contexts from solo recital to chamber music and large ensemble.
