Contrary to the assumption that editing is simply cutting material together, it is in fact one of the most creatively decisive stages of any production: the editor controls pacing, emphasis, emotional tone, and the logic of narrative, often transforming what was shot on set into something quite different. Post-production extends this to encompass sound design, colour grading, visual effects, and the technical pipeline that takes content from camera to screen.
