About this course

Environmental geoscience applies the tools of geology, geophysics, and physical geography to the understanding of environmental systems and the challenges arising from human interaction with the Earth. The discipline examines how soils, water, landforms, and geological materials behave under natural and anthropogenic pressures, and it provides the scientific foundation for environmental assessment, land management, contamination remediation, natural hazard evaluation, and resource management. As concern about environmental degradation, climate change, and resource scarcity has intensified, environmental geoscientists have become increasingly central to planning, regulation, and consulting in the built and natural environment.
