Mental health and wellbeing is a discipline concerned with understanding the psychological, social, and biological factors that shape how people experience and manage their mental health. It is a field of growing importance as awareness of mental health as a public health issue has deepened and as demand for practitioners, researchers, and advocates in the area continues to grow. Studying mental health and wellbeing develops both theoretical knowledge about psychological processes and social determinants of health and the practical skills needed to work supportively with individuals and communities.
