Psychology, counselling and coaching share a concern with understanding and supporting human mental and emotional life, but they approach that concern from different angles. Psychology is the scientific study of mind and behaviour, providing the empirical and theoretical foundations for understanding how people think, feel and act. Counselling applies those insights in a therapeutic relationship, supporting individuals through emotional difficulties, mental health challenges and personal crises. Coaching, often more focused on goal achievement and performance, draws on similar psychological principles to help people develop their potential and navigate life transitions.
