About this course

Social and political sciences brings together the study of society and the study of power, two endeavours that are deeply interconnected and that draw on a shared toolkit of theoretical frameworks and research methods. Sociology investigates how social structures, institutions, and processes shape people's lives and opportunities, examining inequality, culture, identity, and the dynamics of social change. Political science analyses how power is organised and exercised, how political institutions and systems function, how policy is made and contested, and how political behaviour and ideas relate to broader social conditions. Studied together, they provide a rich and critical understanding of the world as it actually is and the forces that are changing it.
