About this course
Sports coaching and development is a discipline concerned with the planning, delivery, and evaluation of coaching practice, and with the broader role of sport in supporting individual and community wellbeing. Effective coaching requires both a thorough understanding of how athletes learn and develop and the communication, leadership, and reflective skills needed to support that development across different levels, from grassroots participation to elite competition. Sports development extends this focus to the social and organisational dimensions of sport, examining how access, engagement, and inclusion can be improved across communities.
