About this course

Data science has become one of the defining disciplines of the early twenty-first century, bringing together statistical reasoning, computational thinking, and domain knowledge to extract insight from the vast quantities of information that modern organisations and societies generate. At the University of York, the BSc Data Science runs over three years of full-time study and includes a sandwich year in industry and a year abroad, giving you a combination of international experience and substantial real-world professional practice before you graduate. Work placement is integral to the programme structure. The degree takes a genuinely interdisciplinary approach.
