Children and young people's nursing is a specialism of the nursing profession dedicated to the care of infants, children and adolescents across the full range of health conditions and settings, from community and primary care through to acute paediatric wards, specialist children's hospitals and critical care units. It is a discipline that combines the clinical knowledge and skills of nursing with a deep understanding of child development, family-centred care, safeguarding and the particular communication skills needed to work effectively with children of different ages and their families.
