About this course

Archaeology and English language make a compelling intellectual pairing. Archaeology is the study of how people in the past interacted with their world, read through the physical evidence of their objects, sites, monuments, and landscapes, reconstructing lives and societies from material traces that have survived across centuries or millennia. English language study, by contrast, examines how language itself works as a system, how it varies across communities and contexts, how it changes over time, and what it reveals about meaning, identity, and communication. Both disciplines are fundamentally concerned with interpretation: with reading evidence carefully and drawing well-grounded conclusions.
