Molecular and cellular biology is the study of life at its most fundamental level, examining the molecules that make up living cells and the processes by which those molecules interact to sustain life, enable development, and respond to the environment. DNA replication, gene expression, protein synthesis, cell signalling, and the regulation of cell division are among the core processes this discipline investigates, and understanding them is essential to making sense of both normal biology and the disruptions to it that cause disease.
