Biomedical engineering is the discipline at the intersection of engineering and medicine, applying the principles of mechanical, electronic and materials engineering to the design and development of devices, systems and technologies that improve human health. Its scope is vast, encompassing everything from diagnostic imaging systems and implantable devices to prosthetics, tissue engineering, clinical monitoring equipment and the software platforms that manage patient data.
