About this course
Games design is a discipline that sits at the intersection of visual art, interactive storytelling, and technical craft. It is one of the fastest-growing creative industries in the world, and serious games design education goes well beyond learning software: it asks you to understand why games work, how player experience is constructed, and how visual, spatial, and mechanical decisions all contribute to something someone wants to engage with and return to. At Cumbria you will develop both creative vision and technical capability across three years of full-time study. From the outset you will work on the art and design of games, building a professional portfolio that combines traditional skills such as drawing and concept art with advanced techniques in 3D modelling, texturing, and game engine work.
