About this course

Marine biology is the study of life in the sea, one of the least understood and most extraordinary environments on earth. Ocean systems cover more than two thirds of the planet's surface, produce much of the oxygen we breathe, regulate our climate, and support biodiversity of almost incomprehensible richness. Marine biologists study organisms from microscopic plankton to the largest animals that have ever lived, investigating their physiology, behaviour, ecology, and the ways in which human activity is changing the marine environment. This four-year full-time programme at the University of Chester includes a foundation year for students who need additional preparation in science, as well as a year abroad that takes your studies into an international field or research context.
