About this course

Psychology is the scientific study of mind and behaviour, exploring how people think, feel, perceive, remember, develop, and relate to one another. It draws on biology, philosophy, and the social sciences to build a rigorous account of what makes us human, and it is a discipline with genuine relevance to health, education, work, and everyday life. At the University of Northampton you will cover the core areas of psychology, including cognitive processes such as memory and attention, biological bases of behaviour, social influences, developmental psychology across the lifespan, and individual differences. You will also learn how psychological research is designed, conducted, and critically evaluated, developing statistical and qualitative skills that are central to the discipline. These research methods are not simply technical requirements but a way of thinking carefully about evidence
