About this course

Ocean science and marine conservation brings together the physical science of the sea and the urgent practical challenge of protecting it. The oceans cover more than two thirds of the Earth's surface, drive climate systems, support the majority of the planet's biodiversity, and provide food and livelihoods for hundreds of millions of people. Ocean scientists study the physics, chemistry, and biology of marine systems, developing the understanding needed to assess their health and predict their responses to change. Marine conservation applies that knowledge to the challenge of protecting species, habitats, and ecosystems under mounting pressure from overfishing, pollution, acidification, and warming. The University of Plymouth's three-year full-time Ocean Science and Marine Conservation degree includes a foundation year option, a sandwich year, a year abroad option, and work placement op
