About this course

Economics is the study of how societies allocate scarce resources, how markets function, how governments intervene and what the consequences of all these choices are for growth, employment, distribution and welfare. It ranges from the behaviour of individual consumers and firms to the dynamics of national economies and global financial systems. A year abroad builds on this naturally, since spending time in a different economic environment, comparing policy approaches, observing different market structures and experiencing an economy from the inside sharpens your understanding in ways that classroom study cannot fully replicate.
