Ancient Greek civilisation has shaped Western thought, literature, science, philosophy, and political theory more profoundly than almost any other tradition, and the study of its language and literature gives direct access to texts that have defined what it means to pursue knowledge, justice, and beauty for more than two millennia. A degree in Classics with a focus on Ancient Greek develops advanced skills in close reading, translation, linguistic analysis, and critical interpretation, alongside a deep engagement with the historical and cultural world from which these texts emerged.
