The language of Plato, Aristotle, Thucydides, and Homer, it gives direct access to texts that have shaped philosophy, literature, science, and political thought for more than two millennia. Theology and Religious Studies, by contrast, casts a broad net, examining the beliefs, practices, texts, and social forms of religious traditions across history and the contemporary world, and engaging with the profound questions of meaning, ethics, and the relationship between the human and the sacred that religion addresses.
