Everything that moves, generates power, or requires physical structure depends on mechanical engineering knowledge, from engines and turbines to medical devices, consumer products, and the growing field of robotics and automation. The discipline is also central to the challenge of sustainable engineering, developing systems and processes that use energy more efficiently and have a lower environmental impact.
